Thanks for a thought provoking article!

I like the idea of a purple pill mentioned by Rick, that we can see the patterns and yet enjoy living in the beauty of the illusion too.

I too enjoy noticing the stories that form and direct society, humankind's most creative and shared art project. The brush strokes become visible if you are close up, or like you hinted at, embody the role of the painter and thus see the process, the paint, the canvas, and the intentions (narrative) that influences everything.

One of the big. moments in art school was when my instructor celebrated a drip. Not my drip, another kid's drip. Called it "process" and though this kid's work wasn't anything to talk about (in my 19 year old arrogant opinion), I never forgot the power of the process. The brush stroke. The evidence that a person did it, and that they were striving but not without a stray drip.

Fantastic article. Personally, The Matrix has been an important film in my life for years, and I loved reading this take on its imagery and themes. 💙

Yes I'm dazzled by the series. I think they stumbled into something bigger than they fully grasped. Like we do.

Matrix is one of my favorite movie as well. It took me 3 times to understand the technological details of movie, but in the process I started relating a lot of day to day life events with storyline.

I was able to relate "matrix" with "Maya" , which (as per hinduism ) is essentially cosmic illusion that prevents individuals from seeing the true nature of reality.

Red pill was more like a making serious spiritual inquiry (sometime called "sanyas" or "tapasya"), but mostly willingness to confront the truth, even if it is uncomfortable or challenging.

Another take away for me was that When Neo sees objects/agents in matrix as code, he also see's himself "out" of matrix, while being present in "matrix" at the same time. He was not any more angry or afraid of agents.

Your articles just keep getting better David. I think I know why you keep forgetting which pill you took, because you took the purple pill. Now you have one foot in each side of the matrix, and you get to enjoy the tidy illusion while at the same time keeping one foot in the waking, messy, ecstatic truth. Isn't this liminal space where the best stories come from? I suspect that waking up also requires waking down, where we have to be willing to go as low as we go high in our view of what is real and true.

Yes! Purple pill! I think we just found the name of our secret society. Dawn of the purple pill. Needs work, but I’m ready to develop it.

Purple people? Purple pillage? Purple purpose? We'll get there. But we should probably stop writing about your secret society in public. Ooo, Purple RePublic!
